The gadgets worth keeping in your everyday bag
A short, practical list of tech that earns its place in your bag — and a few things you can leave at home.
The perfect everyday bag is light enough to forget about and complete enough that you never get caught out. Here's what we carry, and why.
The essentials
- Compact earbuds with a case that charges wirelessly
- A slim power bank with USB-C output
- One multi-port GaN charger instead of several bricks
- A single USB-C cable that works with everything
A 10,000–20,000 mAh power bank covers most days. If you carry a laptop, choose one with at least 45 W USB-C output so it can top up your computer as well as your phone.
What to leave at home
Spare cables you never use, a second pair of headphones and single-purpose adapters add weight without adding much. If you haven't used something in two weeks, try a week without it.
Carry what solves a problem you actually have, not one you might have.
